Shield Yourself from the Dangers of the Void!

Energy shields - regenerating defenses, strong vs missiles and torpedoes, weak vs energy weapons, useless vs lasers. Stats, regeneration, tactics.

Energy Shields

Energy shield overview

In the vast emptiness of space, Energy Shields are your first line of defense against missiles and torpedoes. Every defensive system has its weaknesses, though - energy weapons can destroy them easily and lasers ignore them entirely.

Shield performance

  • Strong against explosive damage - takes only 33% impact damage and ignores area-of-effect damage.
  • Mid against kinetic weapons - no bonus or malus.
  • Weak to energy weapons and useless against lasers - takes 150% impact damage but still ignores area-of-effect damage.

Shield power and regeneration

Shield Power works like Hull Points but regenerates over time. Both Shield Power and Regeneration are affected by the ship's power level.

Ship power influence

  • 100+ power - Max Shield Power +50, Shield Regeneration +1.
  • More than 50 power - Shield Regeneration +0.5.
  • More than 0 power - Max Shield Power −50, Shield Regeneration −1, Time between regen +0.5 s.
  • Less than 0 power - Max Shield Power 25%, Shield Regeneration 25%, Time between regen +2 s.

Specific Power Shield stats

  • Arc Shield - Max Shield Power 220, regen 3 every 1 s.
  • Power Shield - Max Shield Power 340, regen 5 every 1 s.
  • Rotating Arc Shield (used by the Squids, not yet purchasable) - Max Shield Power 500, regen 10 every 1 s.

Tactical applications

Energy Shields excel in hit-and-run tactics - attack runs, disengagement maneuvers and brief skirmishes where mobility takes priority over sustained defense.
